If you would like to learn more about how to draw cartoons, or would just like to get inspired - here are some books fror you.

Ben Caldwell (check his official site btw.) is great and very experienced cartoon designer. He share his knowledge in two tutorial-type books called “Action Cartooning” and “Fantasy Cartooning”.

There are descirbed examples of great cartoon sketches, the whole design process is shown step by step.

You can also find some design tips, commonly made mistakes - and a lot of more.

Those two books helped me a lot in my work - check them yourself, you won’t regret it.

Walking character is surly one of the hardest things to animate.
In this short tutorial I would like to show you that it doesn’t have to be that hard:)
The tutorial is aimed for Flash, but you can get the idea for any other animation authoring program.

We’ve bring to life new virtual character.

His name is Valto, and he’s a host of valto.fi site - a part of Suomen Lasten Parlamentti (Finnish Children Parliament).

Valto is a funny moose that teach children about democracy and citizenship.

We’ve also created Valto, his younger sister Taimi, some layouts for Valto.fi and SLP sites and few educational flash games as well.

Here’s a little tutorial about how I do flash cartoons. I have to say that I didn’t go to any art school, flash school or whatever. I bet there’s a better way to do it - but I’m pretty happy with mine. (if you know how to do it better - I would love to hear that).
For this tutorial I’ll create Taimi - a little moose girl. Ok - so here we go:

We’ve made small Easter flash animation for one of the Pepsi brands - Toma (they make juices). Sine their main target are women - we’ve designed a cartoon bunny female character for the ecard.

Animation was used as Easter ecard - a very nice one:)

We’ve made a series of animated flash cartoons for Graphcard payment processor.

Cartoons demonstrate how to use the Graphcard service and what are the benefits.

We’ve designed “the Graphcard Duck”, who plays the major role in all the cartoons.

We’ve made a flash website for Rubbish Removal company from New York.

It has humorous cartoony style, but the message stays very clear and sharp - “we can help you with your rubbish”.

We’ve also made online booking system - so user are able to request the service in chosen time and place.

The site has it’s own character - Mr.Garbageguy - who is a “host” of the site. There’s also short animated intro depicting company’s services (with Mr.Garbageguy of course).
