There’s quite huge event coming in July – the 4 days long Game Developers Summit 2010 in Gdansk. We can’t really miss such fun – the whole BlackMoon team is going there. Mike and I will be giving the presentations on the event – about game usability, team work (those two are mine) and Flash/AIR game development techniques (Mike will talk about that). There’s a very nice conference coming in April – FlashCamp 2010 in Warsaw. Huge group of well known Flash professionals will talk about Flash platform and it’s possibilities. I’ll also be there, giving a presentation about Usability in Flex projects – all of you are most welcome!

Here’s my short report from event that took place in Helsinki today.
It was organized by our favourite Adobe and it was called Rich Internet Experience Tour.

The event was divided into two parts – there were presentations focused on the design part in the morning and there was developers’ part in the afternoon. Although I feel both – I was able to attend just the first part.

It started with Serge Jaspers’ general presentation about Flash and AIR together with some demos and showcases. Although I learned nothing new – the presentation was top notch and it was fun to watch. (I need to mentioned how fearless Serge is – he kept going with the presentation even though he kept getting electrified several from the static electricity. I guess the Adobe Evangelists’ training is similar to Navy SEALs).
After that, there was a presentation by two guys from Perfect Fools. (The company has got 19 FWA awards!). The work they have showcased was totally stunning (like Mentos KissCam or H&M.
Too bad the presentation was rather “flat” (compared to Serge’s – with a joke every 5 minutes and getting electro-shocks), but I was pretty speechless after it anyway.

After short break (note: You could see that there’s a depression. At my last Adobe event (onAIR tour) there were excellent snacks&drinks – in Helsinki you only got coffee;) there was another presentation by Serge – regarding the Flash Catalysys. Revolution is coming for people who do interface design for Flex applications.

The design part ended with presentation by Johan Lopez from swedish company called Swiff, who showcased the project that incorported speech recognition in Flash (actually – speech recognition was done by the server-side Java program – but client is in flash). Pretty cool.

This was rather showcasing event aimed for designers (I guess more technical details were shown in the second part) – and for me it was extremely interesting and inspiring.
One final quote from the Perfect Fools speech (I quote from memory).
Great projects are made of excellent and innovative code and supreme design. You can’t build really successful work without both.

The competition is called “I <3 Blogging!" and it's mainly about designing a graphic depicting your love for blogging (actually - that's how it's called, right?).

There are some pretty prizes, but the most interesting thing is that Matt Mullenweg (one of the WordPress founders) will use the winning design on his laptop (and that’s really, really cool isn’t it;).

On 6th June some of us went to the onAir Tour 2008 Europe Conference in Warsaw.
The main theme of the Conference was a introduction of AIR (Adobe Integrated Runtime) technology by Adobe.
AIR enables creating desktop application using tools that are used for web development (Flex, Flash or Javascript).

From logistic point of view the event was excellect (very good catering, there were some Wii video games to relax).

As for the core speeches – some where very good, others were a little less brilliant.

In my opinion the best speech was a presentation by Lee Brimelow, about AIR Conditioning. During the presenation he showed a dozen of AIR applications, which demonstrate the capabilities of this new technology. Apart from being very well written and designed – the application were deadly funny.

Another presentation that cought my attention was a presenation about website called parleys.com. It’s a database of presentations and video, that demonstrate what new values AIR technology can bring to web development.

Of course there were a lot educational and promotional materials for attendends (and tshirts .
There was also a lotter with a very nice main prize – Adobe Master Collection.

In general – we have a lot of new ideas and inspiration about AIR technology right now.
I would expect some tutorials and posts about AIR soon.

Of course Robert couldn’t missed that – so here’s what he saw there:

First of all – Apples are nice. And new Apples are even nicer:) Few new models were shown on the Roadshow – each with sleek, metal design and quite a power under the hood.

There was quite interesting lecture about how we can use Apple in medicine, a lot of new products presentations (I’ve started saving for some) – and as much coffee as you can drink:).
